Using the P-Series Power Meters on the PNA

We have received some requests for information on how the New Agilent P-Series Power Meter can be used with the PNA Network Analyzer for calibration and adjustments. Current firmware (A.04.87.01 and A.05.26) does not support this meter. Firmware revision A.06.xx will have built-in support. In the meantime, please make the following changes to the PNA to enable support for this meter.

Regardless of PNA firmware revision, if the PNA recognizes the power meter, but it will not read Channel B of the N1912A, then please update the Agilent Power Meter driver below (AgilentPwrMtr.exe).

Right-click to download the following two files:
AgilentPwrMtr.exe
RegisterPowerMeterDrivers.reg

1. Place the AgilentPwrMtr file on the PNA in this directory:
   C:\Program Files\Agilent\Network Analyzer\Service. (this will overwrite an existing file)
   
   
2. Place the RegisterPowerMeterDrivers file in any temporary location on the PNA.
   
   
3. Double-click on the RegisterPowerMeterDrivers file to add the registry details.
   

This combination should allow the P-Series Power Meter to function with the PNA. For the adjustment routines, the sensor selection dialog box in the individual adjustment programs will not list the new sensors; this will be added later. For now, make the following substitutions:

• N1921A - Select the E4412A sensor
  
• N1922A - Select the E4413A sensor if using this up to 26.5 GHz.
  
• N1922A - Select 8487A sensor if using this up to 40 GHz.
